OMNIVISION and ATL Medical Collaborate on OVMed® OH0131 Medical Imaging System

OMNIVISION, a global innovator in semiconductor technology spanning digital imaging, analog, and display solutions, has partnered with ATL Medical to enhance medical imaging capabilities. ATL Medical is now integrating OMNIVISION’s OVMed® OH0131 image signal processor (ISP) into its PREVOYANCE® Complete Imaging System with Chip-on-Tip® technology, designed for arthroscope camera applications.

ATL Medical’s PREVOYANCE® platform is a comprehensive medical visualization solution tailored for customers seeking a turnkey, white-label device. Engineered to deliver high-quality imaging while accelerating time-to-market and reducing development costs, the system is commonly paired with a fully featured camera control unit (CCU) for imaging, processing, and data storage. The OVMed® OH0131 ISP, purpose-built for medical applications, enables seamless deployment in handheld consoles or CCUs, supporting multi-image configurations and delivering precise color accuracy, advanced noise reduction, and consistent performance under variable lighting conditions.

“The top challenges in medical ISPs center on delivering real-time, high-fidelity visualization while overcoming extreme environmental factors such as specular reflections, smoke, blood and shadows. Key obstacles include maintaining low-latency processing, handling high-volume data, and achieving accurate, automated segmentation and feature extraction during complex procedures,” said Ehsan Ayar, senior staff marketing manager for the medical segment at OMNIVISION.

“We are pleased to collaborate with OMNIVISION and leverage their expertise in advanced image processing for the PREVOYANCE® platform,” said Mike Anderson, vice president strategy, ATL Medical. “We’ve developed an off-the-shelf CCU that can be deployed standalone or be integrated into a customer’s existing platform, simplifying their design cycle while also improving the overall performance of their solution.”

The jointly developed imaging solution integrates a kernel board and host architecture to streamline performance and scalability. The kernel board, engineered by OMNIVISION, incorporates the OH0131 medical-grade ISP, which processes raw image data from sensors and transmits it to the host via a MIPI interface. The host system, developed by ATL Medical, receives and displays the processed images through an HDMI-connected interface.

ATL Medical further enhances the solution with full system-level integration, including optics, illumination, cabling, interconnects, distal-end fabrication, and ergonomic design. This end-to-end approach enables OEMs to reduce engineering complexity, accelerate development cycles, and deploy flexible imaging solutions for both standalone and integrated applications.

Originally introduced in 2023, the OVMed® OH0131 ISP meets a wide range of medical industry certifications, including ISO 13585, RoHS, REACH, IEC 60601 (covering ESD, EMC, EMI, and isolation), and EMS ISO 9001. It supports OMNIVISION’s full portfolio of medical image sensors, ranging from 2-megapixel resolution to 200 x 200, and is compatible with the company’s proprietary AntLinx® CMOS chip-on-tip endoscopy imaging technology and MIPI interfaces, reinforcing its versatility across advanced medical imaging use cases.
