Renesas Acquires Irida Labs to Advance Edge AI and Vision Processing Capabilities

Renesas Electronics Corporation has completed the acquisition of Greece-based Irida Labs, a specialist in embedded software for AI-powered visual perception systems, in a move aimed at strengthening its edge AI embedded processing portfolio and accelerating system-level Vision AI solutions. The acquisition supports Renesas’ broader digitalization strategy by combining its AI-enabled RA microcontrollers and RZ microprocessors with Irida Labs’ lightweight PerCV.ai Vision AI software and development tools. The integrated offering is designed to simplify the deployment of power-efficient edge AI systems for industrial automation, robotics, smart cities, IoT, healthcare, agriculture, and automotive applications. As part of the deal, Irida Labs’ technology will also be integrated into Renesas 365, the company’s cloud-based platform for unified electronics system development and lifecycle management.
