project44 has launched Theft Prevention, an innovative AI product that will help shippers to be able to identify theft in their shipments in real-time. This will allow the detection of theft cases in almost no time and enable a fast response. It should be noted that thefts are becoming more widespread throughout the U.S.; in particular, Homeland Security Investigations report annual losses of about $35 billion due to cargo thefts, while, according to National Insurance Crime Bureau, the amount of thefts increased by about 1,500% since 2021. Nowadays, cargo theft is carried out by criminal organizations using various techniques such as identity fraud, creating false carriers, and jamming GPS signals; thus, it becomes difficult for shippers to realize that there was cargo theft because they do not receive the cargo on time.

Theft Prevention aims at overcoming the problem and uses AI models to track trucks and other shipment vehicles. Telematics data collected from ELDs, trailer sensors, and door sensors feed are used for continuous monitoring. Earlier detection can help reduce claims frequency, inventory replacement costs, expedited shipping expenses, and contract-related penalties. “AI is only as good as the data behind it. project44 has spent over a decade building a foundation of verified, compounding context across 1.5 billion annual shipments, and that’s what standalone security tools can’t replicate. That foundation is what makes autonomous response possible and trustworthy, and what turns detection speed into a recoverable outcome rather than an alert that arrives too late,” said Jett McCandless, Founder and CEO of project44.
