indie Semiconductor has recently released its new edge AI SoC called iND881. This cutting-edge technology is intended to be used as a platform for smart camera systems in autonomous automobiles and robotics. Thanks to a combination of powerful AI functionality and indie Semiconductor’s low-latency multi-camera ISP, this innovative system provides an effective and scalable solution for real-time perception and decision-making. The chip includes an integrated Neural Processing Unit (NPU), a flexible Digital Signal Processor (DSP), and a quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 CPU, which creates a balance between acceleration of the AI load, execution of signal-processing tasks, and compatibility with modern operating systems and legacy software. The iND881 is optimized for low power consumption and fast processing, making it perfect for ADAS, including DMS/OMS, smart eMirrors with blind spot detection, as well as intelligent camera deployment on autonomous mobile robots and humanoid robotics.
