Fresenius Medical Care (FME), the world’s leading provider of products and services for individuals with renal diseases, announced that Shervin J. Korangy (51) will become Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chair of the Management Board, effective October 12, 2026. The Supervisory Board unanimously appointed him to succeed Helen Giza (58), who has served as CEO and Chair of the Management Board for four years, following three years as CFO.
Korangy joins the leadership role after serving as President and CEO of BVI Medical from 2017 to 2026. During his tenure, he led the transformation of the company into an ophthalmology-focused medical technology platform with products distributed in nearly 90 countries. He also served on Fresenius Medical Care’s Supervisory Board before resigning from that position following his CEO appointment.
The leadership transition follows a period of organizational change at Fresenius Medical Care. Under Giza, the company implemented its FME25+ transformation program, streamlined processes, reshaped its organization, and reduced its cost base by approximately €1.2 billion. The company now plans to focus on long-term profitable growth, innovation, and strengthening its market position.

“The Supervisory Board is grateful to Helen for her leadership and commitment over the past seven years. The appointment comes as healthcare providers and medical technology companies face growing demands to improve operational efficiency while advancing treatment and care delivery. For Fresenius Medical Care, the next phase will involve building on its transformation efforts while addressing evolving needs in kidney care and healthcare services.
