Palmetto Launches Battery Plan to Expand Home Energy Resilience

Palmetto has introduced the Palmetto Energy Backup Plan, a battery-only subscription offering designed to make home energy resilience more accessible by eliminating the high upfront costs traditionally associated with battery storage systems. This launch is happening as people continue facing the threat of power outages due to more frequent storm events, while millions of households in America that rely on their solar rooftops cannot access backup batteries and are vulnerable whenever the power grid goes off. Customers of the subscription service will enjoy premium home battery storage, automatic backup during power grid outages, and maintenance of the equipment, thereby making it easier for people to upgrade their solar rooftops without buying a battery at all.

Using the Palmetto app, clients will be able to determine backup reserve levels and manage energy consumption by storing electricity. The offering also benefits solar dealers and partners by lowering the primary barrier to battery adoption, enabling them to offer battery subscriptions as standalone solutions or upgrades while Palmetto manages maintenance and repairs. “Many homeowners assume solar keeps their house powered during an outage, but most solar systems shut off when the grid does,” said Chris Kemper, Founder and CEO of Palmetto. “Backup storage is the missing piece of true home resilience, yet buying a battery outright can require thousands of dollars. The Palmetto Energy Backup Plan removes that barrier so families can keep the lights on without the financial stress.”
