Supermicro Unveils Compact, Energy-Efficient Systems to Adopt Intelligent Edge AI

Supermicro, Inc. a global leader in Total IT Solutions for AI/ML, Cloud, and Edge computing, launched new compact, energy-efficient servers featuring AMD EPYC 4005 series processors. With these highly energy efficient CPU-based edge servers, the company seeks to enhance AI inferencing and main enterprise workloads in limited-space and power-constrained environments such as retail stores, production areas, health-care centers, and remote branches.

The new portfolio delivers a diverse range of form factors, including compact boxes, short-depth 1U rackmounts, and slim towers. These systems empower organizations to process data locally, significantly reducing latency and bandwidth requirements while enhancing the performance of intelligent applications like real-time analytics and frictionless checkout systems.

“Supermicro continues to deliver highly efficient, compact systems that bring powerful compute closer to where data is generated and processed,” said Mory Lin, Vice President, IoT/Embedded & Edge Computing, Supermicro. “With our new AMD EPYC 4005 processor-based platforms, including compact box, short-depth 1U, and slim tower system form factors, customers can deploy AI accelerator cards and dedicated workloads at the edge with improved performance, enhanced security, and reduced power consumption, while lowering total cost of ownership (TCO).”

Optimized Hardware for the Intelligent Edge

The latest additions to Supermicro’s portfolio provide a scalable foundation for business-critical infrastructure.

The AMD EPYC™ 4005 series lineup includes:

AS -E300-14GR: A mini-1U box system in a 2.5L enclosure. Supporting up to 16 cores and 192GB of DDR5 memory, it is ideal for point-of-sale and network gateways, featuring HDMI, MiniDisplay ports, and 4x GbE ports.

AS -1116R-FN4: A short-depth 1U rackmount server designed for storage-heavy workloads and retail back-end consolidation in shallow cabinets.

AS -3015TR-i4: A 9L slim tower chassis optimized for quiet operation. It supports a dual-slot GPU, such as the NVIDIA RTX PRO™ 2000 Blackwell, making it perfect for visual AI and edge inferencing.

Architecture Defined by Efficiency and Security

With the help of “Zen 5” core architecture by AMD, these platforms boast an amazing Thermal Design Power (TDP) rating of 65W. In addition, these platforms have DDR5 support as well as PCIe Gen 5, which is why Supermicro makes sure that these platforms are able to deal with high throughput workload.

These platforms have TPM 2.0 as well as AMD SEV (Secure Encrypted Virtualization) built-in to meet all the requirements of modern distributed computing platforms. When paired with IPMI 2.0 remote management, these platforms provide a truly secure and energy-efficient platform for the modern edge computing environment.
