SiLC Technologies, Inc. (SiLC) announced the launch of Eyeonic® Trace Ultra, the next generation of its Laser Line Scanner product family with 3x better accuracy. Trace Ultra delivers an unprecedented 100-micron range precision, which is the thickness of a human hair or a sheet of paper. Designed for demanding industrial automation and inspection environments, Trace Ultra maintains the same compact footprint and ease of deployment as its predecessor, Eyeonic Trace, and is Class 1 eye-safe, immune to cross talk, works in any lighting condition and has a huge working range of 5 meters.
Trace Ultra builds on the success of Eyeonic Trace, which has seen strong market adoption since its launch and received the AUTOMATE Innovation Award for its breakthrough capabilities. With its 300% improved precision, Trace Ultra is opening doors for a new class of applications that can benefit from automated inspection and measurement.
“The Eyeonic Trace introduced last year has been a huge success, with new customers and applications emerging every day,” said Mehdi Asghari, CEO of SiLC Technologies. “But some use cases demand even higher precision. Eyeonic Trace Ultra addresses that need by delivering 100-micron accuracy while maintaining all the performance and benefits that made the original Eyeonic Trace so successful.”

Enabling the Next Generation of Automated Factories and Warehouses
Trace Ultra brings high performance dimensioning with millimeter precision for “hard to detect” targets at long range. The high scan rate allows for faster operation and a wide field-of-view enables greater coverage. The 300% improvement in precision enables Trace Ultra to address inspection tasks that previously required manual measurement.
For example, in automotive manufacturing parts move along an assembly line and must be inspected for small scratches, tiny dents and alignment tolerances. Today, many of these inspections are performed manually or require removal from the line to a special station for quality control. This process can be costly and may allow defects to go undetected. With Trace Ultra, manufacturers can scan every part as it moves along the line, even at high speeds, enabling consistent, automated inspection that improves quality control and reduces reliance on manual, human intervention. In addition, the large working range offered by Trace Ultra enables fine measurements of very large objects like an entire frame of a car.
“Manufacturers are increasingly looking to automate as much of the production and inspection process as possible,” added Asghari. “That shift requires sensing technologies capable of delivering the accuracy and reliability needed to support fully automated operations. There are no competing products that can match the performance of Trace Ultra. This combination of features will change the game for manufacturers on a mission to achieve the highest levels of automation.”
Trace Ultra is fully upward compatible with existing Trace applications, allowing customers to upgrade deployments that require higher precision. It maintains the same physical footprint and system design as Trace, enabling straightforward integration into current systems. Trace Ultra joins the expanding Eyeonic Trace family of industrial automation solutions, with additional products planned to include an area scanner, which further extends the platform’s capabilities.
