Lattice Expands Low-Power FPGA Portfolio with Launch of MachXO5T-NX, Its Advanced Systems Control FPGA Platforms

Lattice Semiconductor, a leader in low-power programming, announced the Lattice MachXO5T-NX family, its advanced systems control FPGAs, designed to address customer challenges related to the increasing complexity of design for management of systems. Based on the Lattice Nexus platform, these latest low-power FPGAs offer advanced connectivity with PCIe, increased memory and logic resources, and superior security. Combined with best-in-class power efficiency, size, and reliability, the new low-power MachXO5T-NX brings Lattice’s historical leadership position in control FPGAs to a wider range of designs and applications in the field of control functions for corporate networks,

“As the pace of technology innovation accelerates and the complexity of designing for systems management increases, the need for advanced computing capabilities increases,” said Dan Mansur, vice president of product marketing for Lattice Semiconductor. “MachXO5T-NX FPGAs offer Lattice customers higher capacity, faster I/O, and more advanced security features in small, low-power form factors to help them simplify system integration without compromising on of energy efficiency, compatibility and performance”.

Key features and performance features of Lattice’s new low-power MachXO5T-NX FPGAs include:

  • Control FPGA with PCIe
    • Hardened PCIe Gen 2 interfaces between the host processor and the controlling FPGA.
  • Increased logical and memory resources
    • Up to 3.4x more onboard memory (7.2Mb) than competing products in a similar class, minimizing the need for external memory.
    • Dedicated User Flash Memory (UFM) up to 100 times larger (57 Mb) than competing products of similar class, to store mission critical data and parameters.
    • Up to 100 times lower soft error rate than competing products in similar class, increasing system reliability for safety-critical applications.
  • Robust and programmable I/O
    • It addresses the issues of modern CPUs and SoCs, which lack the robust 3.3V I/O signal support needed to communicate with many other devices in the system.
    • Features up to 291 general-purpose I/Os that support early I/O configuration and offer additional features, such as 1.25Gbps SGMII, default pull-down, hot socketing, and programmable slew rate, to simplify board design .
  • Safety at the top of the category
    • On-chip multi-boot with bitstream encryption (AES256) and authentication (ECC256).
    • Run-time security features not currently available in competing products of similar class.
