Advanced Energy, a global leader in the design and manufacture of precision power conversion, measurement and control solutions, has announced a new ultra-efficient, high-reliability, DC-DC converter module. This innovative 1300 W device delivers 28 V output in an industry-standard half-brick form factor, enabling a wide range of remote digital control functions at low power consumption.
The Advanced Energy Artesyn® ADH1300-48S28 DC-to-DC converter is designed for telecom wireless base stations and other equipment equipped with radio frequency power amplifiers (RFPAs). The converter has an industry-leading efficiency of nearly 96% at full load. In addition, its special thermal design is ideal for installation in sealed enclosures with ingress protection (IP), such as radio frequency remote heads (RRH) equipment that require contact cooling. The PMBus interface supports remote configuration, monitoring and control, thereby reducing maintenance costs.

“RF power amplifiers are the highest energy consumers within a base station and need to operate at peak efficiency at all times during all operations,” said Joe Voyles, vice president of industrial power conversion products at Advanced Energy. “As power requirements continue to increase, Advanced Energy’s compact half-brick ADH1300-48S28 converter can maintain higher power outputs at higher efficiencies without increasing form factor. This enables compact designs while helping operators achieve uninterrupted network coverage and lower operating costs, which essentially means it can play a role in future-proofing RFPA applications.”
The ADH1300-48S28 is capable of wide-range voltage regulation, which allows designers to flexibly adjust its performance to suit target application requirements. In addition, the module also features overvoltage, overcurrent and short-circuit protection.
