SLB, AWS and Shell join forces to accelerate adoption of OSDU® data platform

SLB, Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Shell Global Solutions Nederland BV (Shell) have signed a multi-year, three-way collaboration agreement that will see them The SLB underground solution will be used on AWS cloud infrastructure to provide Shell with a digital end-to-end workflow. The partnership aims to provide cost-effective, high-performance underground digital solutions not only for Shell, but also for the entire industry. Digital workflows will use the OSDU® data platform standard to improve a positive customer experience for enterprise users, increase efficiency and collaboration, while providing smarter insights to the Shell and energy industries. This collaboration builds on the existing strategic collaboration agreement between SLB and AWS and will accelerate the availability of SLB’s industry-leading software on AWS, including Petrel™ underground solutions and Techlog™ wellbore solutions.

Edwin Verdonk, executive vice president of development and underground operations at Shell, said: “Cloud-based computing power and data that is reliable, available and compliant with OSDU® technology standards will be the foundation for efficient underground workflows and help bring data to our Engineers at hand. Shell is committed to providing continuous support and contributions to the OSDU ® Forum community and accelerating the availability of commercial solutions. Through the cooperation memorandum signed with SLB and AWS, we aim to accelerate the arrival of cloud solutions , And realize OSDU ® data platform access.”

Rakesh Jaggi, President of Digital and Integration at SLB, said: “SLB, Shell and AWS are aligned on the importance and further deployment of the OSDU® data platform. Our long-term commitment to openness allows us to deploy SLB solutions through AWS. This provides Customers are provided with more cloud vendor choices to facilitate their access to AWS’s important service products and cloud computing capabilities, thereby achieving broader collaboration and higher efficiency.”
