Ruth E. Cassidy, BS, PharmD, MBA, FACHE, FASHP, has been named Chief Pharmacy Officer for Montefiore Health System and will assume her new role Dr. Cassidy will bring to Montefiore decades of excellence in pharmacy practice, with a focused perspective on medication safety, regulatory oversight and exceptional patient care.
Dr. Cassidy will be responsible for pharmacy services for Montefiore Einstein’s acute care and outpatient centers, as well as the Montefiore Specialty Pharmacy, one of the most advanced in the region, offering home delivery of medications throughout the Bronx and Westchester .

The formula for healthcare complexity
Chronic diseases have a significant impact on the health and well-being of New Yorkers. With more than 40% of New York City adults living with at least one chronic condition, medication management is vital. Dr. Cassidy will be responsible for managing the company’s pharmacy operations, which range from new cancer treatments that allow a patient’s immune cells to be genetically modified to attack cancer cells, to developing effective communication strategies that support care coordination and mitigate potential medication side effects after hospital stays.

Prior to joining Montefiore, Dr. Cassidy served as Senior Vice President of Clinical Support Services and Director of Pharmacy for SBH Health System, where she developed and oversaw the system’s first outpatient pharmacy, first specialty pharmacy, and launched an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists-accredited pharmacy residency program.
