GoodWe Technologies is the new licensee for Tigo Energy’s rapid shutdown technology

Tigo Energy, Inc., a leading provider of smart solar and energy storage solutions, announced the award to GoodWe Technologies Co., Ltd., manufacturer of solar inverters and provider of smart energy solutions, of the license for Tigo’s module-level rapid shutdown technology. Under the agreement, GoodWe products that meet and qualify for certification against SunSpec’s rapid shutdown specification will not infringe Tigo’s licensed patents. Tigo’s quick shutdown technology will be implemented in the GoodWe quick shutdown device.

Tigo is a leader in module level power electronics (MLPE) and rapid shutdown technology, with over one hundred patents granted or pending. The company actively licenses its proprietary technology to other solar equipment manufacturers and has prevailed in multiple patent disputes. Tigo’s rapid shutdown technology complies with UL 1741, the standard for safety for inverters, converters, controllers, and interconnect system equipment for use with distributed power resources, as well as SunSpec rapid shutdown specification and shutdown requirements Millions of Tigo MLPE products are installed worldwide providing optimized, monitored, and secure solar power to protect critical solar power infrastructure and deliver consistent ROI over the lifetime of the US National Electrical Code (NEC) of renewable energy systems.
