Caliburn Technologies Debuts TempestOS for Cyber, AI, Robotics, and Sensors

Caliburn Technologies™, spun out from Fathom5, has launched as a product-focused company. Its goal is to speed up the deployment of TempestOS. This is the first operating system made to manage frontier technologies like cyber, AI, robotics, and sensors at the tactical edge. Caliburn will expand its engineering and field teams. With support from strategic defense investors, it will achieve key certifications. The company will also fund initial deployments with lighthouse partners. This will transform proven Fathom5 technology into a scalable platform that is operationally relevant. “Fathom5 has proven that cyber-resilient, AI-powered solutions can operate at the edge of naval networks,” said Zac Staples, founder and CEO of Caliburn Technologies. “With Caliburn, we take that proven foundation and turn it into a scalable, dependable platform that delivers readiness for defense operations at the tactical edge.”

The launch aligns with the Department of War’s push toward rapid software acquisition and commercial innovation pathways, positioning TempestOS as an integration-first, cyber-secure operating layer for contested environments. “Our customers need an operating system that can survive salt spray, contested spectrum, and denied logistics, and still let them fight through,” Staples added. Reinforcing its strategic value, Rear Adm. (ret.) Lorin Selby noted, “TempestOS delivers the integration layer the defense community needs: deployable, cyber-secure, and designed to keep warfighters ahead as the Pentagon accelerates software acquisition.”
