UST has finalized its acquisition of a majority stake in Italdesign from the Audi Group. As the global automotive landscape accelerates its transition toward software-defined, highly connected, and AI-powered vehicles, the strategic transaction merges Italdesign’s world-class design and prototyping mastery with UST’s core strengths in digital engineering, software-defined vehicle architectures, and artificial intelligence. With such integration, the joint entity will be able to help OEMs around the world deal with the increasingly complex engineering needs of current transport by enabling faster development processes ranging from conceptualization to full production.
The purchase is built on a common vision of where things are headed: The future of mobility will be marked by the coming together of the best of hardware design, digital software, and artificial intelligence, with all of them underpinned by human-driven innovation.
Over 59 years, Italdesign has been the quintessential player in global automotive history, creating some of the most renowned production and concept cars in the world thanks to its hallmark combination of creative design and engineering excellence. Coupled with the AI, digital ecosystem, and software architecture expertise of UST, this collaboration brings a brand-new way of engineering, building, and delivering the next-gen connected mobility experiences.

With the shift towards centralized electronic architecture and cloud-based software architecture on the part of the automakers, the partnership serves to place UST and Italdesign as a complete engineering solution for mobility players around the world. This is done by creating an integrated pipeline that combines exterior and interior design, physical prototyping, electronics, and artificial intelligence based software.
