Cox Automotive has announced the launch of Secure Vehicle Transfer, a proprietary digital vehicle handoff solution designed to help shippers verify carrier identity, vehicle assignment, and pickup location before a vehicle changes hands. Central Dispatch, the nation’s largest automotive logistics marketplace, serves as the debut platform for the technology.
The solution introduces revocable digital credentials to replace traditional paper releases, addressing a long-standing vulnerability in automotive logistics by digitizing the point of physical handoff.

Modernizing the Vehicle Pickup Workflow
While digital automation has transformed load board management and carrier dispatching, the physical moment of pickup has historically relied on manual verification methods, such as paper documentation and phone calls-leaving room for unauthorized vehicle releases.
Secure Vehicle Transfer mitigates these security risks by issuing dynamic digital credentials directly to authorized drivers. The platform equips shippers with direct control over who takes physical possession of their assets while embedding the verification process into tools carriers already use.
Key Technical Security Features
Anti-Fraud Protections: Credentials cannot be duplicated, forwarded, or captured via screenshots. Real-time access management instantly revokes credentials if dispatch authorizations are updated.
Geofenced Activation: Scans can only occur when the assigned driver is physically within five miles of the designated pickup site, ensuring authentic location presence.
Auditability: Every completed scan generates a permanent, verifiable digital record of the physical handoff.
Expanding Marketplace Integrity and Identity Authentication
The introduction of Secure Vehicle Transfer builds upon Central Dispatch’s broader investments in security architecture and user authentication. Following its earlier implementation of platform-wide biometric identity verification during user onboarding, Central Dispatch plans to extend biometric checks directly to the point of physical vehicle release.

Pilot Availability and Deployment Schedule
Secure Vehicle Transfer has officially entered its pilot testing phase. Central Dispatch is actively deploying the technology across select dealership pickup locations alongside participating carriers within the Ready Logistics network prior to a commercial rollout.
