Avalanche Technology and Advanced Space Power Equipment GmbH Partner to Drive Satellite Power Supply Innovation

Avalanche Technology, the leader in next generation MRAM technology, announced that it is providing its disruptive Space Grade Persistent SRAM (P-SRAM) products for satellite power applications developed by Advanced Space Power Equipment GmbH (ASP). ASP has designed in a 16Mb device from Avalanche’s Gen 2 Space Grade P-SRAM family into its next-generation Power Conditioning & Distribution Unit (PCDU) within its satellite platform product line.

ASP chose Avalanche’s highly reliable P-SRAM for its next wave of power supply designs, due to its high-reliability, resilience, density, low latency and practically unlimited write cycle endurance. Satellite systems require extreme environmental resilience and fault tolerant high reliability, all while there is continued pressure to reduce size, weight, and power. ASP is known for power supply innovation across its diverse product families including satellite payload and platform, launchers, high voltage power supplies and ground systems.

“ASP has been powering satellites since 2003, with hundreds in orbit, demonstrating our core strengths of quality, reliability and outstanding performance”, said Dr. Reiner Strobel, CEO of ASP. “Avalanche’s disruptive MRAM solutions are providing the right combination of features to allow our teams to reduce SWaP (size, weight and power) for our PCDU, known for its sophisticated modularized architecture and form factor.”

Avalanche’s Gen 2 Space Grade P-SRAM family, with its space heritage, is the workhorse of embedded design for the aerospace and defense industry, providing a resilient, high reliability, and compact solution for the rapidly evolving space market,” said Danny Sabour, Vice President of Marketing and Business Development at Avalanche Technology. “We are delighted to be working with a satellite power supply leader such as ASP.”
