Applied Intuition, a leading company in developing physical AI solutions for connected and autonomous mobility, has made an announcement that its AI-driven software development tools have been rolled out by Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. The collaboration is aimed at assisting in the development and implementation of next-generation AI-defined vehicles (AIDVs) from Nissan.
Under this new program, Applied Intuition will leverage its Vehicle OS software to assist in developing Nissan’s scalable and open in-vehicle software architecture. Engineering teams from Applied Intuition, both from Japan and Silicon Valley, will collaborate closely with the engineering teams from Nissan in Japan to enhance software workflows, shorten development lifecycles, and deliver new AI-driven capabilities within vehicles.
Unifying Next-Generation Vehicle Architecture
For automakers moving toward software-driven mobility, unified software architecture becomes necessary to manage the software within vehicles with different configurations. With its Vehicle OS and AI-native tools, Applied Intuition manages complex hardware abstraction layers that connect legacy software systems with cloud-native development approaches.

“Nissan is strengthening its software and AI-driven development capabilities as we advance toward the realization of AI-defined vehicles,” said Takashi Yoshizawa, corporate executive, SDV Engineering Division, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. “As we pursue a more efficient and agile approach to vehicle development, we highly value Applied Intuition’s technical expertise and proven track record in advanced vehicle-software development.”
“Nissan is taking an ambitious approach to transforming how vehicles are developed,” said Qasar Younis, co-founder and CEO of Applied Intuition. “By combining AI-native software development with Nissan’s vehicle engineering expertise, we aim to redefine how vehicles are developed, evolved and continuously updated over time, as well as the value customers expect from their vehicles.”
Expanding Beyond Simulation into In-Vehicle Operating Systems
This initiative represents an expansion of a strategic relationship established in 2020 when Nissan first integrated Applied Intuition’s simulation ecosystem. Over the years, the companies have collaborated on AI-driven vehicle workflows, including a live demonstration featuring a modified Nissan LEAF test vehicle at the AWS Summit Japan.
The new agreement goes further from virtual tests to actual production-quality embedded software and will help Vehicle OS act as a base platform for Nissan’s future vehicles.
With its continued growth as a benchmark among the major automotive OEMs worldwide, Applied Intuition continues its leadership in physical AI and software-defined car design.
