Silicon Labs has announced new developer initiatives aimed at simplifying IoT development while enabling developers and AI agents to build, deploy and manage greater intelligence at the edge. Unveiled at the seventh annual Works With Summit, the offerings address growing development complexity as connected products incorporate advanced intelligence and custom hardware. “More capable silicon should not create more development complexity,” said Manish Kothari, Senior Vice President of Software at Silicon Labs. “We are giving developers and their AI agents a connected path from hardware and software intent through implementation, community contribution, and the complete AI lifecycle.” Silicon Labs’ Simplicity AI Software Development Kit has gone into Beta with an SDK that gives developers and AI programming helpers structured access to Silicon Labs SDKs, tools, documentation, and connected hardware.

The Simplicity AI SDK works with GitHub Copilot, Cursor, and Codex, with an early focus on BLE workflows ranging from project set up through hardware manipulation. Silicon Labs also introduced Simplicity Design Intelligence, a growing set of capabilities designed to connect hardware and software intent with implementation and verification. Hardware Intent, uses requirements, schematics and other documentation to guide configuration and identify issues such as pin conflicts, peripheral mismatches and missing constraints before fabrication. “We’ve been working closely with Silicon Labs as an Alpha customer, evaluating how the Hardware Intent Agent can streamline hardware development across our current and future products while providing feedback on new features as it progresses towards general release,” said Limor Alkelai, Co-CEO, at Risco Group. “We see its potential in enabling quicker and more robust development.”
