LaFontaine Automotive Group, a rapidly growing U.S. automotive retailer, has announced a strategic partnership with vehicle data intelligence provider UVeye to integrate advanced artificial intelligence inspection platforms across its Michigan operational footprint. Spanning more than 40 retail locations statewide, the deployment establishes a cross-state network offering complimentary drive-through vehicle health scans to all local motorists.
The initiative leverages UVeye’s automated inspection systems-often described as an “MRI for vehicles”-to modernize vehicle diagnostics, elevate safety standards, and establish enhanced transparency between automotive retailers and consumers across the region.
Automated AI Inspection System Mechanics
UVeye’s hardware and software architecture reimagines traditional vehicle inspection workflows by utilizing high-resolution computer vision and deep learning models inside automated drive-through scanners. In just a few seconds, the multi-camera systems inspect tires, undercarriage components, and exterior bodywork with a 96% accuracy rating.
Technically, the computer vision system built by UVeye revolutionizes conventional processes of auto inspections at dealerships through an innovative design of a multiple camera scanning system that is capable of conducting detailed diagnostics within seconds. With the help of deep learning algorithms trained on billions of imagery points, the system ensures 96% defect detection and conducts automated structural analysis of tires, undercarriage elements, and exterior body panels.

The information is then presented to consumers in form of high-definition visual reports, which allows them to easily determine the current state of the vehicle’s physical components and detect any necessary repairs without any guesswork. Instead of verbal recommendation and old-fashioned paper checklists, this innovative technology provides the dealerships with a reliable solution to improve consumer trust, prevent malfunctions, and conduct timely vehicle safety checks.
Through creation of high-definition imaging reports of a vehicle’s mechanical and structural condition, the system allows consumers to receive visual proof of any required maintenance or safety issues of their car.
“Technology is fundamentally changing what customers should expect from their automotive experience, and we intend to lead that transformation,” said Ryan LaFontaine, CEO of LaFontaine Automotive Group. “Our partnership with UVeye is about creating a new standard for vehicle safety, transparency and trust across our statewide network. By making this technology complimentary and accessible throughout our 40-plus Michigan locations, we’re giving drivers greater insight into the health of their vehicles and the confidence to make informed decisions for themselves and their families. This is an investment in the future of automotive retail, the communities we serve and the lifelong relationships we’re committed to building.”
“This is much bigger than just deploying groundbreaking technology; it’s about changing how people think about (and monitor) their car’s health and safety,” said Amir Hever, CEO and Co-founder of UVeye. “Just as people routinely monitor their own health, every driver should have easy access to their vehicle’s vitals. Together with LaFontaine, we’re empowering drivers to understand the condition of their cars, making Michigan the first place in the world where everyone can receive a complimentary scan close to home.”
Official Rollout and Statewide Community Initiative
The collaboration marked its debut with the first operating inspection lane being opened at LaFontaine Buick GMC, located in Highland, Michigan. The ceremony was performed via a demonstration of UVeye’s computer vision system and a ribbon cutting ceremony that was performed jointly by Ryan LaFontaine and Amir Hever.
To support the launch, LaFontaine has announced a free vehicle diagnostic and health check for all Michigan residents, irrespective of their car’s brand, age or place of initial purchase. The program aims to assist residents who are going to be traveling on long journeys, buying used cars, inspecting older family cars or checking for any damage done during small collisions.
Global Platform Footprint and Scale
With more than 1,000 systems deployed across global dealership networks, commercial fleets, auto auctions, car rental operations, and OEM logistics hubs, UVeye currently processes over 3 million vehicle scans per month. The company’s deep learning algorithms are trained on an extensive proprietary database of vehicular components and structural defects, continuously updated by analyzing billions of imagery points annually. UVeye’s technology stack is utilized by major automotive and logistics organizations worldwide, including General Motors, Volvo, and Amazon.
