Bloom Energy has announced an expanded partnership with MiTAC Computing Technology Corp., a manufacturer of high-performance server hardware and a subsidiary of MiTAC Holdings Corporation. The collaboration highlights the rising adoption of off-grid and distributed power systems to support the rapid expansion of artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Under the terms of the agreement, Bloom Energy will deploy a fuel-cell-powered islanded microgrid at MiTAC’s AI server manufacturing campus in Fremont, California. The deployment extends an existing energy setup at MiTAC’s San Jose facility, increasing the company’s overall contracted onsite power generation footprint.
Solving Infrastructure Bottlenecks Across the AI Supply Chain
As global demand for AI compute scales exponentially, commercial and industrial suppliers-especially advanced hardware manufacturers-are encountering power grid constraints similar to those affecting large data centers. Facing extended timelines for conventional grid connection, organizations across the AI supply chain are implementing onsite microgrids to bring high-density production capacity online without operational delays.

At MiTAC’s Fremont campus, Bloom’s solid oxide fuel cell system will power active server assembly lines while providing the operational elasticity needed to scale production as market demand grows.
“As the buildout of AI infrastructure accelerates, demand for power is growing at every layer of the ecosystem,” said Aman Joshi, Chief Commercial Officer at Bloom Energy. “We’re seeing that demand translate into rapid customer adoption. Today, Bloom serves nearly two dozen AI infrastructure customers with approximately 250 MW of capacity, from a running start of nearly zero in this segment just two years ago. Projects like MiTAC demonstrate that Bloom is the standard for onsite power, helping customers – from data centers to advanced manufacturers – move faster and build the infrastructure powering the AI economy.”
Clean, High-Density Onsite Power Generation
Bloom Energy’s solid oxide fuel cell platform delivers clean, high-availability electricity via an electrochemical conversion process rather than fuel combustion. By bypassing traditional combustion, the modular architecture operates without significant water requirements, heavy particulate emissions, or elevated operational noise—enabling rapid deployment in tightly regulated municipalities where site permitting and environmental constraints often delay legacy power installations.
The announcement further expands Bloom Energy’s growing footprint within the AI and high-density computing sector. The company has deployed hundreds of megawatts of fuel cell capacity across global digital infrastructure networks, supporting enterprise environments through partnerships with American Electric Power (AEP), Brookfield, Equinix, Nebius, and Oracle.
