Geotab and Polestar Announces Integration to Expand OEM Network for Hardware-Free Fleet Intelligence

Geotab, has taken an important leap forward with the integration of Polestar cars into its telematics solutions for OEMs. The partnership has made it feasible for commercial vehicles to access Polestar vehicle information immediately through the MyGeotab application, which is now available in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific without additional hardware installation.

Direct Connectivity: Accurate Data without Additional Hardware Installation

Thanks to Polestar’s connected car technology, this integration provides the capability of connecting to the MyGeotab environment, allowing Polestar Fleet Telematics to deliver precise data from the vehicles without the need to use any additional hardware. It provides out-of-the-box connectivity to all Polestar vehicles, allowing control of EVs alongside any ICE or EV fleets.

The connection gives access to near-real-time information about the following data points:

Specifically to EV Data: Battery charge level and real-time charging status.

Basic Requirements: GPS position, tire pressure, and climate.

Security and Preventive Maintenance: Vehicle security level and preventive maintenance notifications.

This comprehensive data access enables fleet managers to shift their focus from problem-solving to proactive management through optimal depot charging schedules and duty-of-care compliance without requiring any logistical pauses to fit the devices.

Streamlining the Mixed-Fleet Reality

For global fleet operators, particularly those in Europe, OEM-embedded telematics significantly reduces the administrative and technical burden of hardware management. It also streamlines adherence to local regulatory requirements, such as GDPR and works council privacy standards, by leveraging factory-installed connectivity.

“Polestar Fleet Telematics combines sustainability with intelligence, integrating seamlessly with Geotab to deliver these capabilities directly into the platforms fleet operators trust. Continuous data visibility enables more efficient and informed fleet operations, from day-to-day management to long-term planning. By leveraging Polestar vehicles’ embedded connectivity, fleet managers can make smarter, data-driven decisions — without adding hardware or complexity to their operations.” said Emma Knapp, Manager of Global Key Accounts at Polestar.

A Growing Ecosystem for the EV Transition

Polestar joins Geotab’s premier OEM network, which currently represents over 80% of the global fleet market share among leading manufacturers, including BMW Group, Ford, Stellantis, Volkswagen Group, and Volvo Cars.

“OEM-embedded telematics represents a change in how fleet data reaches the platform — and Polestar’s connected vehicle architecture makes this integration particularly well-suited for markets that are seriously considering transitioning to electric vehicles.” said Christoph Ludewig, Vice President OEM Global at Geotab. “Fleet operators managing mixed EV and internal combustion engine fleets no longer need separate tools or hardware for each vehicle type. Polestar data flows directly into MyGeotab alongside every other vehicle in the fleet – giving operators the consolidated visibility they need to drive efficiency, support duty of care, and manage their EV transition with confidence.”

Available immediately through the Geotab Marketplace, existing customers can activate Polestar connectivity for their fleets without additional service appointments or hardware costs.
