Teledyne Marine and M Subs Sign MOU on collaboration

Teledyne Marine, known for its work in unmanned underwater vehicles and high, end ocean tech, joins forces with M Subs, a British firm deep into autonomous sea systems, through a newly signed agreement meant to shape future naval missions. Instead of going solo, both companies lean on shared goals laid out in a Memorandum of Understanding aimed at pushing how undersea tasks are handled. While each keeps its edge, their path now runs parallel, building something tighter than before. Behind the scenes, planning kicks off without fanfare, targeting real shifts in how machines operate below the surface.

Working together, each group adds what the other lacks, aiming at chances tied to the Royal Navy along with various global naval efforts. At its core, this alliance focuses on blending smart vehicle bases with automated guidance setups, sound, based detection tools, underwater signal transfer, visual gear, illumination methods, plus links that work below the surface, shaping practical, strong ocean, ready results.

Right now, tech tasks are moving forward, Teledyne SeaBat sonars were recently tested on Zero USVs at REPMUS 2025, working just as needed. At the same time, teams began setting up ways to launch Slocum gliders along with Osprey, class AUVs using those same unmanned boats. Real, world tests will happen early next year, one in the UK, another in Iceland, both set before mid, 2026 wraps up.

Proven performance and global deployment

Teledyne Marine is a leading supplier of unmanned underwater vehicle systems, operating major production facilities in North Falmouth and Kópavogur, supported by an extensive international service network. As of January 2026, the company has delivered more than 12,000 APEX floats and approximately 1,275 Slocum gliders—over 600 of which are in service with North Atlantic Treaty Organization naval users. Gavia autonomous underwater vehicle systems have been procured by 18 navies worldwide. Teledyne’s unmanned systems are operational with multiple NATO and AUKUS partner navies, including the Royal Navy.
