Aster, an energy and chemical solutions provider in Southeast Asia, and Aether Fuels , a sustainable aviation fuel producer, have signed an agreement to develop the first commercial-scale SAF production facility at Aster Pulau Bukom in Singapore. Project Beacon will use Aether’s Aurora technology to turn industrial waste gas and biomethane into CORSIA-certified SAF. This process cuts greenhouse gas emissions by over 70% compared to regular jet fuel and produces up to 2,000 tons of fuel each year. Construction will begin in 2026, with operations starting in 2028. Aster will offer renewable power, waste carbon feedstock, and site support. This will help speed up the project’s development.

“Today marks an important step forward in reducing carbon intensity and advancing new energy pathways. By bringing together Aether’s technology with the expertise of our Bukom facility, we are demonstrating how partnerships between established industrial leaders and agile innovators can catalyze the introduction of disruptive solutions on a commercial scale,” said Erwin Ciputra, Group CEO of Aster. Conor Madigan, Founder and CEO of Aether Fuels, praised Singapore. He pointed out the strong innovation ecosystem. It plays a big role in developing sustainable fuels. The Singapore Economic Development Board said this initiative boosts Singapore’s role in sustainable aviation. It also cuts industrial carbon emissions.
