Bidgely Launches GenAI for UtilityAI and Energy Management

Bidgely has introduced a new generative AI (GenAI) integration into its award-winning UtilityAI Platform, providing utilities and their customers with even more intelligent and intuitive energy management experiences. The introduction of a series of new scalable products will enable autonomous responses to inquiries for faster results that will redefine data insights and utility program implementation. This includes new consumer experience interfaces, simulation scheduling for distributed energy resources (DER) and non-wire alternatives (NWA), load profiling and targeting, data summaries and more.

“For more than a decade, Bidgely’s UtilityAI has proven incredibly effective at unlocking the value of smart meter data. Our new GenAI integration is the next critical step in enabling utilities to further improve their agility, deepen customer engagement, and optimize resources like never before,” said Abhay Gupta, CEO of Bidgely. “With Bidgely, utilities aren’t just prepared to survive the future, they’re equipped to lead it.”

Bidgely’s GenAI solutions are designed to help utilities address their most pressing initiatives, especially the increasing grid congestion and the need to implement targeted NWA solutions; decarbonization through home electrification; and helping homeowners reduce utility costs and environmental impact.

“Utilities are poised to support their customers on their journey to become more energy efficient and trusted energy advisors. To do so, more and more energy companies are using consumption analytics to engage customers with new services, with more than 50 percent planning to invest in behavioral demand response,” said Gaia Gallotti, associate research director, IDC Energy Insights. “To maximize the success of their sustainable energy programs, utilities will need to invest in GenAI tools to meet their customers’ demand for customized products, services, and bundles.”

The new face of customer experience and support

Bidgely’s GenAI integration bridges the gap between energy consumption and monthly utility costs for end consumers, significantly improving customer satisfaction, reducing customer service calls, and increasing utility program subscriptions. End consumers and utility company customer service representatives will have access to:

  • Energy Assistants – a highly interactive interface that instantly assesses home energy usage, responds to customer inquiries, and offers personalized recommendations.
  • Energy Advisors – A customized solution that allows customers to take more control of their energy decisions, such as modeling the financial impact of purchasing an electric vehicle or installing solar panels.

Bidgely’s evolving UtilityAI Platform will also streamline end-customer energy management journeys through GenAI-generated simulations. Home electrification simulations, for example, will analyze a customer’s load profile, complete an energy audit, simulate an upgrade and savings opportunities, and connect consumers to relevant products, installers, and financing options.

Smarter, simpler network management

For utility network planners, Bidgely’s GenAI integration simplifies the analysis of insights from meter data to provide faster access to information and recommendations for more efficient decision-making. Network planners will have access to:

  • Network Assistants – An intuitive, conversational interface that makes it easier to evaluate data, analyze DERs, monitor network resources and key trends at the surface.
  • Network Advisors – a next-generation product that enables network planners to simulate complex network scenarios, perform NWA and resource upgrade plans, and continuously monitor the progress of network management goals.

Bidgely’s GenAI integration not only translates network data into actionable, easy-to-use insights, but also provides network planners with a way to validate network strategies and investments. To alleviate network congestion, for example, utilities can run simulations on their busiest network assets to compare the impact of different NWAs and infrastructure upgrade options before implementing changes.
