Singularity Energy, an advanced carbon and clean energy management software platform for utilities and grid operators, announced a collaboration with Southern Company, the second largest utility company in the United States. As part of this engagement, Singularity is collaborating with Southern Company to develop and test a platform that will provide hourly grid emissions data to participating customers of Southern Company’s electric subsidiaries.
This collaboration will leverage operational data from Southern Company’s generation fleet as well as unique customer usage data to provide the robust reporting capabilities increasingly desired by the U.S. government and other large customers. Once a final solution is established, this work could also assist Southern Company’s subsidiaries’ to further scale their clean energy programs.
Managing hourly clean energy programs for one customer, let alone multiple customers, is a complex data management problem. Singularity’s team is at the forefront of thought leadership and standard setting for hourly grid carbon accounting, developing best-in-class tools that allow utilities to manage both their annual green tariff programs and their hourly programs in tandem with each other.
