VeriSilicon collaborates with wireless technology and chip provider Innobase to launch 5G RedCap/4G LTE dual-mode modem solution. We announced that we have jointly launched. The chip powering this new modem solution was developed by Innobase and is now in volume production after tape-out and validation and will be officially released to the global market soon.
5G Reduced Capability (RedCap) is a cellular technology for IoT defined by the international standards organization 3GPP in 5G Release 17. It targets medium to high speed IoT application scenarios and together with 4G LTE forms a complete cellular IoT ecosystem.
The co-launch of this modem solution comes as part of a strategic partnership between VeriSilicon and Innobase, allowing VeriSilicon to further expand its wireless communications IP portfolio and offer 4G and 5G modem IP solutions to its customers. The companies will also provide customers with a complete set of user equipment (UE) reference designs covering critical components such as radio frequency (RF) transceivers and power management chipsets.

Lu Wenbo, Senior Vice President of Innobase, said: “We are pleased to collaborate with VeriSilicon to fully utilize Innobase’s Yunbao Modem and VeriSilicon’s wireless connectivity technology. This allows us to provide our customers with advanced IoT communications connectivity solutions worldwide. Developed IP that complies with the first commercialized 5G RedCap/4G LTE dual-mode communication standard and completed chip validation for mass production. It supports data and voice services for various application scenarios such as internet-connected smart vehicles, industrial IoT, video surveillance, and smart grids.”
“4G and 5G technologies are mainstream mobile communication standards with long life cycles and a wide range of application scenarios,” said Weiwei Wang, senior vice president and general manager of VeriSilicon’s custom silicon platform division. A pioneer in the successful launch and mass production of 4G LTE dual-mode modem chips, which demonstrates Innobase’s strong R&D and product commercialization capabilities. We are committed to the development and industrialization of wireless communication technology.
Leveraging VeriSilicon’s accumulated RF technology and proprietary ZSP digital signal processor (DSP) IP, we are developing RF IP, baseband IP, and software protocol stacks. They have developed a comprehensive wireless communications solution that incorporates diverse technology standards and Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, We can provide all-in-one radio system designs that support applications such as cellular IoT, and multi-mode satellite navigation and location. These solutions are integrated into multiple customer SoCs and are in volume production.
