AV and OpenJAUS Partner on UxS Interoperability

AeroVironment has announced a collaboration with OpenJAUS, LLC to integrate the JAUS (Joint Architecture for Unmanned Systems) standard into AV_Halo™ Command, its cross-architecture software solution for uncrewed systems (UxS). The partnership combines AV_Halo Command’s modular APIs and software framework with OpenJAUS’s SDK to establish an open-standards foundation for faster, more seamless integration of JAUS-compliant assets. This allows OEMs to incorporate new platforms and control systems with greater ease, advancing interoperability across defense and robotics ecosystems.

“The modern battlespace is defined by speed, complexity, and connectivity-and winning it demands seamless interoperability, not proprietary silos,” said Scott Bowman, Chief Technology Officer at AeroVironment. “Our collaboration with OpenJAUS reinforces AV’s leadership in open-architecture design and our commitment to the Modular Open Systems Approach (MOSA).” The integration delivers a scalable, platform-agnostic command and control (C2) solution that supports multiple systems, payloads, and AI capabilities through a unified “pane of glass” interface. Paired with AV’s Tomahawk™ Grip control hardware, AV_Halo Command enables operators to manage over 25 uncrewed systems from more than a dozen manufacturers, reducing training complexity and enhancing mission readiness at the tactical edge.
