SiTime Corporation, known for Precision Timing, and Renesas Electronics Corporation, a leading semiconductor supplier, have announced a partnership. This involves their joint subsidiary, Renesas Electronics America Inc. SiTime has finalized an agreement to acquire specific assets from Renesas’ timing business. This strategic purchase significantly fast, tracks SiTimes growth path to $1 billion in annual sales and, in fact, it continues to cement its status as the leading pure, play Precision Timing company, offering one of the industry’s most comprehensive portfolios of high, performance timing solutions. Meanwhile, the two companies have also signed a partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a view to the potential integration of SiTimes MEMS resonator technology into Renesas embedded computing product portfolio.
Rajesh Vashist, chairman and CEO of SiTime, said, “This acquisition is a monumental milestone toward fulfilling our vision to transform the timing market and solve our customers’ toughest timing challenges. With Renesas’ timing business, we will increase our clocking portfolio by more than 10x and extend our reach in the fastest growing applications in the timing market, including comms, enterprise and datacenter. Notably, these applications are expected to represent more than 60% of SiTime’s revenue, post-acquisition. We are confident that the acquisition will deliver exceptional value for our shareholders as we build on our strong record of financial performance as underscored by our 2025 results announced today.”
The market leading clocking brand that is being acquired is known to have a 30-year history of highly differentiated products and a solid financial structure. The company maintains gross margins around 70% and serves over 10,000 customers worldwide. About 75% of its business comes from the fast-growing AI, datacenter, and communications sector. The rest is from industrial and automotive markets. In the 12 months after the completion of the acquisition, the acquired company is expected to register about $300 million in revenue, thanks to the global sales infrastructure of SiTime.

Hidetoshi Shibata, CEO of Renesas, said, “This transaction allows Renesas to sharpen its focus on embedded compute leadership while ensuring our customers have access to SiTime’s cutting-edge MEMS timing technology. We look forward to exploring opportunities for strategic collaboration with SiTime to deliver integrated solutions that power the next generation of intelligent devices that demand performance and efficiency. This milestone is another step forward toward our 2035 Aspiration and becoming a top-three embedded semiconductor solution supplier. Throughout this process, we remain fully committed to supporting our employees, customers and partners and ensuring a smooth transition.”
Rajesh Vashist, CEO of SiTime continued, “One of SiTime’s strategies is to integrate our resonators into MCUs and power management ICs, among other SoCs, to provide size, performance and power benefits to semiconductor companies. We are excited about the additional value that could be created for customers and the start of this multi-year revenue opportunity for SiTime.”
SiTime’s Titan MEMS resonator technology enables advanced levels of integration by allowing the bare die to be combined directly with Renesas’ microcontroller (MCU) or system-on-chip (SoC) die within a single package. This approach eliminates the need for a separate board-level resonator. It reduces system complexity, saves board space, and simplifies product design. Next-gen integrated timing solutions will enhance many high-performance, power-sensitive applications. These include AI data centers, industrial automation, robotics, ADAS in vehicles, and advanced wearable devices. In these areas, performance, energy efficiency, and miniaturization are crucial.
