Hapag-Lloyd Teams Up with PayCargo and Gnosis Freight to Launch Digital Container Payment Portal

Hapag-Lloyd has partnered with PayCargo and Gnosis Freight to introduce a new digital Container Payment Portal (CPP) designed to streamline container fee payments and enhance efficiency for customers and terminal operators. The platform will allow users to manage import-related charges more efficiently while ensuring compliance with the Ocean Shipping Reform Act of 2022 (OSRA).

The CPP will serve as the central hub for importers to pay import line demurrage charges for U.S. shipments, regardless of the country of origin. This system is expected to simplify and speed up payment processing while providing greater transparency in the supply chain. By leveraging PayCargo’s secure digital payment infrastructure and Gnosis Freight’s expertise in container management technology, Hapag-Lloyd aims to reduce delays, improve cash flow for terminals, and enhance overall cargo movement efficiency.

Hapag-Lloyd plans to introduce the CPP across key U.S. ports throughout 2025. The initial rollout will cover major maritime hubs, including New York/New Jersey, Baltimore, Philadelphia, Miami, Savannah, Charleston, Wilmington, Virginia, Houston, Mobile, New Orleans, Tampa, Los Angeles, Long Beach, Oakland, Seattle, Tacoma, Jacksonville, and Port Everglades. By integrating the CPP into operations at these ports, Hapag-Lloyd is working to modernize payments, reduce administrative burdens, and support compliance with evolving industry regulations.
