Fincantieri, a global leader in advanced shipbuilding, and Accenture, one of the world’s foremost professional services firms, have announced the formation of a new joint venture: Fincantieri Ingenium. The company will be owned 70% by Fincantieri NexTech, a Fincantieri Group subsidiary, and 30% by Accenture. This collaboration follows a Memorandum of Understanding signed in July 2024 and brings together Fincantieri’s cutting-edge maritime technology with Accenture’s deep digital transformation expertise.
Fincantieri Ingenium aims to accelerate innovation and digitalization in the cruise, defense, and port infrastructure industries. The venture supports the broader strategy outlined in the Fincantieri Group’s Industrial Plan, with a strong focus on enhancing digital capabilities, optimizing processes, and leveraging data across the full value chain through technologies such as artificial intelligence.
By combining Accenture’s global leadership in digital platforms, AI, IoT, cybersecurity, and service design with Fincantieri’s long-standing technical excellence in naval and defense engineering, the new company will help develop forward-looking solutions that address both operational and strategic challenges. This initiative will also play a pivotal role in cultivating new talent and building next-generation digital skills within the industry.

A cornerstone of Fincantieri Ingenium’s initial roadmap is the launch of Navis Sapiens, a next-generation digital ecosystem designed to enhance the intelligence of both new and existing ships. The initiative spans three core pillars:
-
Application Services: A suite of solutions focused on improving operational efficiency and lifecycle management for vessels and port infrastructure.
-
Digital Platform: A secure, AI-enabled foundation that powers advanced functionalities and emphasizes cybersecurity by design.
-
Marketplace: A dynamic hub for exchanging solutions, including third-party innovations, to deliver added value and unlock new business models across the maritime industry.
The first vessel to feature the Navis Sapiens system is projected to be in operation by the end of 2025.
