Leading NYC Vascular Surgeon Dr. Alan Benvenisty Receives Abdominal Transplant Surgeon Certification

The Transplant Accreditation & Certification Council (TACC) recently granted Dr. Benvenisty the distinguished achievement of Abdominal Transplant Surgeon certification. The TACC serves as the leadership body charged with accreditation programs and is committed to improving the safety and quality of transplant care with rigorous evaluation and examination for certifying transplant surgeons. Transplant Accreditation & Certification Council (TACC) members are committed to defining and promoting training and the career-long education of transplant surgeons. Approval of Dr. Benvenisty’s certification demonstrates his dedication, expert knowledge and valuable contributions to the transplant medical community. The formal celebration of Dr. Benvenisty and his fellow peers receiving certification will take place at the TACC 2023 Winter Symposium in January.

Dr. Alan Benvenisty operates out of Mount Sinai Hospital, Mount Sinai Morningside and Mount Sinai West and leads the non-invasive vascular laboratory at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s. Dr. Benvenisty is also the Site Chief of Surgery at Mount Sinai Morningside. While Dr. Benvenisty brings a conservative approach to treatment and intervention, he is also a specialist in renal transplant surgery and holds considerable experience in carotid, aneurysm and limb (salvage) bypass surgery. With intentional and personalized patient care, Dr. Benvenisty’s philosophy regarding treatment is that every patient and circumstance is unique. For patients suffering from renal failure, kidney disease, blood clots, aneurysms and other vascular illnesses, Dr. Benvenisty works to provide the least invasive treatment plan, using non-surgical options when possible.

Dr. Alan I. Benvenisty graduated from the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Columbia University, where he remained to complete his internship and residency in general surgery. Selected as “Super Chief,” he completed his fellowship in vascular and transplant surgery and was invited to join the staff at The Presbyterian Hospital. During his eighteen-year tenure, he became a respected member of the faculty of the College of Physicians and Surgeons and was later promoted to professor of clinical surgery.
