T1 Energy and Corning Partners for American’s Solar Momentum

T1 Energy and Corning Incorporated announced a strategic commercial partnership that will bolster the U.S. solar supply chain and accelerate the deployment of affordable, domestically produced energy. Under the agreement, T1 will source hyper-pure polysilicon and solar wafers from Corning’s advanced manufacturing campus in Michigan.

Beginning in the second half of 2026, Corning’s wafers will be supplied to T1’s G2_Austin solar cell facility, currently under development. These solar cells will then be used to produce high-efficiency modules at T1’s operational G1_Dallas plant, creating a seamless U.S.-based manufacturing pipeline.

Strengthening Domestic Supply Chains

As demand for reliable renewable energy surges, supply chain certainty has become mission-critical. This expanded collaboration between T1 and Corning ensures a steady, U.S.-sourced supply of solar wafers, cells, and modules. By linking each step of production-from polysilicon to finished solar modules-the agreement enables customers to benefit from long-term planning, regulatory compliance, and stronger energy resilience.

The partnership also addresses one of the most pressing challenges of today: the need for immediate increases in electricity supply to fuel the global AI race and advance U.S. energy independence. Together, T1 and Corning are creating the nation’s most scalable, American-made solar energy infrastructure, spanning manufacturing sites across Michigan and Texas.

“This landmark supply chain agreement with Corning will help invigorate America with scalable, reliable, low-cost energy,” said Daniel Barcelo, T1’s Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. “This is American companies building in America and protecting American energy security. The U.S. needs to establish critical energy supply chains built on domestic capacity and industrial knowhow. Together with Corning, we intend to accelerate America’s ability to manufacture leading-edge solar solutions, support a total of nearly 6,000 American jobs, and promote American energy independence.”

Expanding U.S. Solar Manufacturing Capacity

Corning will play a pivotal role in scaling American solar manufacturing capacity by leveraging its expertise in advanced materials and wafer production. This investment reinforces the company’s commitment to building a resilient domestic solar supply chain while generating new, high-quality manufacturing jobs in Michigan.

“Corning is proud to help meet the growing need for solar products made in the United States,” said AB Ghosh, Corning Vice President and General Manager of Solar and Chairman and CEO of Hemlock Semiconductor. “We’re accelerating the ramp of our advanced manufacturing capabilities to support a resilient U.S. solar supply chain. Our agreement with T1 underscores the strong demand for high-quality, American-made solar technologies. By building foundational infrastructure in Michigan, we’re adding good-paying manufacturing jobs, strengthening the U.S. solar industry and advancing a more energy-independent future for the country.”
