SPATCO and ChargerHelp Join Forces to Improve EV Charger Uptime Amid Rising Industry

SPATCO, a leading provider of fueling infrastructure solutions, and ChargerHelp, a technology-driven EV charger maintenance company, have formed a strategic partnership aimed at significantly improving the reliability of electric vehicle (EV) charging networks. As the EV market rapidly expands, this collaboration addresses one of the sector’s most pressing challenges: charger uptime.

The alliance arrives at a pivotal time for the industry. Reliability concerns continue to mount, with recent data from Q4 2024 revealing that 20% of EV drivers were unable to complete charging sessions at public stations due to equipment failures, outages, or payment issues.

Adding to the pressure, regulatory oversight is intensifying. The National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) program-a $5 billion federal initiative designed to expand EV charging access-has been temporarily paused, leaving many public and private charging stakeholders in limbo. Simultaneously, California’s proposed AB 1423 legislation seeks to impose stricter uptime standards and fines of up to $2,500 per violation for non-compliant charging stations, marking a shift toward enforceable performance accountability.

“Charger uptime is no longer just a convenience issue-it’s a regulatory priority,” said Kameale Terry, Co-Founder & CEO of ChargerHelp. “Our partnership with SPATCO is about scaling a structured, data-driven approach to charger maintenance, ensuring that as the industry grows, reliability keeps pace.”
