Global energy storage platform provider Powin LLC (Powin) welcomes Jeff Waters to the team as CEO and Board member, effective immediately. Waters will replace Geoffrey Brown, who has been the company’s CEO since 2016. Brown will transition to strategic advisor and remain a member of the Board.
Waters joins Powin after most recently serving as CEO of Maxeon Solar Technologies, where he led the company’s spin-off from SunPower. At Maxeon, Waters led a substantial turnaround in profitability and revenue growth through a transformation of its global operations and the creation of new businesses, including significant expansion in the utility-scale market. Prior to Maxeon and SunPower, Waters held other CEO and senior leadership positions in the electronic materials and semiconductor industries, with global experience in manufacturing, sales and marketing, and product development.
“On behalf of the Board, we thank Geoff Brown for his visionary leadership over the last seven years, taking us from start-up to market leader in a multi-billion-dollar global industry,” said Glenn Jacobson, Powin’s Chairman. “We’re delighted to have Jeff Waters taking over as leader of the company at an important stage in the company’s development, given his deep experience bringing companies to scale in dynamic, technology-driven markets.”

“Serving as Powin’s CEO has been an honor. I couldn’t have asked for a more innovative and passionate team to be a part of,” said Brown. “I’m excited to welcome Jeff on board. With his extensive background in operations, manufacturing, and product development leading us forward, I can’t wait to see where Powin goes next.”
“I am elated to be joining Powin as it enters its next phase of growth as a global leader in energy storage,” said Waters. “Powin’s offerings answer a critical need to design clean energy solutions, scale them globally, and to secure stable power sources for future generations. Our mission couldn’t be timelier or more important.”
To date, Powin has deployed over 2,900 MWh of battery systems worldwide with roughly 12,000 MWh under construction. As one of the largest energy storage providers in North America, Powin’s fully integrated business model is enabling the company to scale to meet the rising international demand for energy storage.
