NuScale Power places its first long-term materials production order with Doosan Enerbility

NuScale Power Corporation, the industry-leading provider of innovative patented and advanced small modular nuclear reactor (SMR) technology, announced that by the end of 2022 and as scheduled , placed its first LLM production order for the first Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) with Doosan Enerbility (Doosan), a world-class engineering and manufacturing company. world. The order is for essential materials to begin manufacturing the first NuScale Power Modules that are scheduled to go into commercial operation at the Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems Zero Carbon Energy Project in early 2029.

“ Completing and shipping this order to our valued partner Doosan demonstrates NuScale’s transition to the manufacturing phase of our modules and underscores our advanced market position to deploy our SMR technology to customers before the decade is out,” said John Hopkins, president and CEO of NuScale. “ Our strong relationships with expert partners like Doosan demonstrate NuScale’s robust global supply chain and positions us to meet the growing interest in NuScale VOYGR power plants that we are seeing around the world.”

In preparation for the long-term order, NuScale and Doosan began work in April 2022 to complete manufacturing for the upper RPV dies. Based on this, the new LLM order includes heavy dies, steam generator tubing and brazing materials for six larger RPVs. The total estimated weight of materials for the top six RPVs is over 2,000 tons.

In addition to Doosan, NuScale continues to strengthen its supply chain by coordinating its robust roster of world-class suppliers and manufacturers in the US and abroad.
