Honeywell Tech to Optimize Production at AMIGO LNG Terminal

Honeywell announced that its modular liquefied natural gas (LNG) pretreatment technology and Integrated Control and Safety Systems (ICSS) will be deployed at AMIGO LNG S.A. de C.V.’s export terminal in Guaymas, Sonora. The project, a joint venture between Texas-based Epcilon LNG LLC and Singapore-based LNG Alliance Pte Ltd., is designed to advance energy infrastructure in Mexico while supporting global energy security and emissions reduction.

Honeywell’s modular pretreatment system will help ensure LNG produced at the new facility meets stringent industry specifications while reducing project risk and enabling scalability. By removing impurities before liquefaction, the technology extends equipment life, minimizes unplanned downtime, and improves operational reliability. Its modular design further allows for faster installation and simplified expansion, helping the project move to market more efficiently.

In addition, Honeywell’s ICSS automation suite and Experion® distributed control system will provide AMIGO LNG with enterprise-wide operational control. Coupled with advanced fire, gas, and surveillance safety systems, these solutions are designed to protect personnel, assets, and the environment by identifying hazards and activating real-time emergency responses.

“By leveraging Honeywell’s advanced and proven modular pre-treatment technology and automation systems, we are streamlining project construction, accelerating project delivery and enhancing operational efficiency to deliver a superior product to our customers faster,” said Dr. Muthu Chezhian, CEO of LNG Alliance. “The AMIGO LNG terminal will deliver LNG more competitively to global markets, while reinforcing Mexico’s position in international energy trade, generating local economic value and advancing the global transition to cleaner fuels.”

The AMIGO LNG terminal supports Mexico’s Plan Sonora initiative, which seeks to establish Sonora as a strategic hub for energy security and international LNG trade, while stimulating local economic growth. Once operational in 2028, the facility is expected to export up to 7.8 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) of LNG.

“As the global demand for LNG continues to grow, Honeywell is uniquely positioned as a single provider for both modular process technology and automation solutions. This optional integrated approach can help accelerate project timelines and provide production efficiency benefits,” said Rajesh Gattupalli, president and CEO of Honeywell UOP. “This collaboration with LNG Alliance highlights our joint focus on promoting global energy security.”
