Columbus and COSMO Partners to Accelerate Digital Transformation in Waste Management

Columbus, a major worldwide digital consulting firm, and COSMO CONSULT, one of the top suppliers of industry-specific software, have revealed a major expansion of their strategic alliance. The two companies intend through this teamwork to offer the waste management and recycling sector a single, cutting-edge digital platform based on the Microsoft Dynamics 365 environment.

The collaboration combines Columbus’s wide knowledge of industry advisory and implementation with the COSMO Environmental Services, an ISV solution developed to address the complexities of reverse logistics and circular economy operations.

Solving the Complexity of Reverse Logistics

The waste management sector functions on business dynamics that diverge sharply from traditional linear manufacturing. Unlike standard “procure-to-pay” models, waste operators must navigate intricate flows where collection triggers inbound material streams, and subsequent sorting converts waste into valuable secondary raw materials. These unique cost and revenue structures demand an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) foundation that is purpose-built for the vertical.

“Our partnership reflects a shared ambition: to provide waste management companies with an industry-tailored ERP foundation that supports growth, operational control, and sustainable value creation. By combining COSMO’s ISV platform with Columbus’s advisory and delivery capabilities, we establish a scalable model to support digital maturity across the waste and recycling ecosystem,” said Matthäus Mayer, Sales Director Industry Solutions at Cosmo Consult.

Global Expansion and Market Reach

This strengthened collaboration represents a major expansion into the United States, building on the existing success story in the Nordic regions. As per the new agreement, Columbus will lead the implementation, localization, and industry adaptation in the following areas:

North America

The United Kingdom

The Nordics

This ensures that global customers receive a robust ERP backbone optimized for reverse logistics, backed by scalable governance and deep domain knowledge.

Addressing Industry Volatility and Compliance

The waste and recycling industry is experiencing growing challenges due to stringent regulatory requirements, volatile secondary material markets, and a growing need for complete traceability. The combination of these two solutions will enable operators to synchronize their process from initial collection to outbound sales in a unified digital framework. This will enable operators to improve transparency and asset utilization while ensuring stringent regulatory requirements are met.

“This strengthened partnership allows us to bring a proven, industry-specific solution, that leverages the unique AI and Agentic ERP based capabilities providing state of the art industry solution in the waste management vertical, to the US market at a time of significant transformation. The sector is under pressure to modernize operations, increase traceability, and improve sustainability performance. Together with COSMO, we combine deep industry functionality with strong delivery capability to help customers build resilient, scalable digital foundations that support long-term growth,” concluded Pankaj Kant, VP Dynamics 365, USA at Columbus.
