AppDirect announces the acquisition of DNE Resources, expanding its energy services portfolio in Canada

AppDirect , the world’s leading business-to-business (B2B) commerce platform, announced the acquisition of DNE Resources, a leading Quebec-based energy broker focused on deregulated Canadian markets. This acquisition follows AppDirect’s recent announcement of its acquisition of Broker Online Exchange (BOX) , North America’s most flexible energy retail network. These two acquisitions, funded through a CA$100 million credit facility from La Caisse, a global investment group (formerly known as CDPQ), significantly strengthen AppDirect’s presence in the Canadian and U.S. energy markets. They also support its ambition to become the leading platform for lifecycle management and distribution of all services critical to business success and growth, accessible through advisors and brokers.

Founded in 2009, DNE provides energy solutions to industrial and commercial clients, with a focus on deploying the right, scalable energy strategy. DNE has since grown to become one of Canada’s largest energy management companies, managing over $250 million in managed energy spend. Through this acquisition, the DNE team will gain access to the BOX My Service Cloud platform and AppDirect’s portfolio of value-added services. This enables DNE to offer a truly differentiated business approach, providing its clients with additional technology solutions, generating new revenue streams, and strengthening their loyalty.

“One of the most important things we focus on as a company is doing the right thing. In this context, acting in the best interest of our end customers means meeting their energy needs as they evolve and expanding our offerings to include the full range of products available on the AppDirect centralized purchasing platform,” said Wayne Burke, co-founder and CEO of DNE. “We are excited about this growth opportunity for both our company and our customer community.”

The acquisitions of DNE and BOX mark a bold step forward in AppDirect’s mission to redefine the future of technology procurement. By adding energy solutions to its platform, which already includes cloud, telecom, mobility, hardware, and AI, AppDirect is building a unified purchasing platform for technology advisors and brokers so their clients can seamlessly find, buy, and manage everything they need to succeed.

“The energy market is undergoing significant transformation, providing significant opportunities for cost reduction, sustainability, and innovation,” said Nicolas Desmarais, Chairman, President, and CEO of AppDirect. “Supported by our long-time partner, La Caisse, the acquisitions of DNE and BOX come at a pivotal time when the increased use of AI has skyrocketed energy demand. We are committed to equipping businesses with the tools, knowledge, and infrastructure needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving, connected, and sustainable digital economy.”
