ECS, an IT systems integrator focused on data and AI, cybersecurity, and enterprise transformation solutions, has named John Lau vice president of Defense and Intel Solutions.
As a senior leader in ECS’ Defense and Intel business, Lau will be responsible for delivery excellence across the company’s AI, cloud, cyber, and digital services initiatives within the U.S. Army, U.S. Navy, U.S. Air Force, U.S. Marine Corp, and Combatant Commands. His portfolio includes large emerging technology programs, building highly sophisticated AI models, and leveraging modern platform solutions to deliver next-generation defense and intelligence capabilities directly into the hands of our warfighters.

Lau joins ECS after serving as a senior strategic advisor and product line lead with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). He oversaw the modernization of mission-critical systems and investments in AI, cloud, and cybersecurity capabilities at USPTO and led public-private partnership innovations to accelerate new capabilities to delivery.
As deputy director for the USPTO’s Office of Enterprise Infrastructure Delivery, Lau spearheaded a first-of-its-kind enterprise cloud enclave. As acting chief technology officer and senior advisor at the Department of Commerce’s Office of the Secretary, he enabled greater automation and operational efficiencies through cloud and digital platform capabilities.
