Waters Introduces Next Generation iS Alliance HPLC System Designed to Reduce Common Lab Errors by Up to 40%

Waters Corporation introduced Alliance iS , a next-generation intelligent HPLC system designed to reduce compliance risk by adding new levels of proactive error detection, problem resolution and great ease of use. When combined with Waters compliance-ready technology, Empower Chromatography software and eConnect HPLC columns, the Alliance iS High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) System (HPLC) speeds the task of making accurate and precise measurements by detecting and eliminating common errors by up to 40%. In doing so, the Alliance iS HPLC system helps quality control laboratories to consistently meet quality, safety, compliance and on-time product delivery objectives.

“Quality control laboratories are much different than they were 50 years ago, when Waters introduced its first commercial HPLC system, which helped ensure that the tens of thousands of prescription drugs on the market were pure, safe and work as expected,” said Udit Batra, president and CEO of Waters Corporation. “Through our conversations with hundreds of quality control managers and bank analysts, we have gained a deeper understanding of what they need today from a next-generation HPLC system to help them perform at their best. The Waters Alliance iS HPLC system is ideal for addressing issues such as staff training, error reduction, risk management and compliance.

Based on extensive customer knowledge and expertise, Alliance’s iS HPLC system is carefully designed for the unique needs of the QC laboratory, bringing intuitive simplicity to routine measurements. With visual prompts and alerts delivered via an intuitive touch screen interface, the system notifies the operator if an inappropriate method is chosen for an application, a sample vial is missing, it is time to refill a solvent bottle, or it is time to perform system maintenance.

Furthermore, the system also integrates with cloud-native waters_connect system monitoring software , enabling real-time monitoring of the iS Alliance HPLC system and any other chromatography instrument controlled by Empower Software.

Key features of the Waters iS Alliance HPLC System include:

  • The latest industry-standard, compliance-ready Empower chromatography software with full audit trail capabilities.
  • Advanced instrumentation touch screen for guided system operation and maintenance.
  • eConnect Column Tag technology to link column information, including injection counts, via Near Field Communication (NFC) technology.
