EQT to acquire Europa Biosite for life science products distribution

EQT Healthcare Growth, has entered into an agreement to acquire a majority stake in Europa Biosite, a leading distributor of high-quality research-use-only (RUO) life science reagents, chemicals, and biological substances that support vital healthcare research and development. The stake will be acquired from current owner Adelis Equity.

Headquartered in Stockholm, Europa Biosite operates across 17 countries in Europe and North America, serving over 60,000 researchers in both academic and biopharmaceutical sectors. With a growing portfolio, the company gives scientists access to more than ten million products, including antibodies, biochemicals, diagnostic kits, and ethically sourced biospecimens—all sourced from science-driven global suppliers.

Over the years, Europa Biosite has evolved into a trusted partner for both suppliers and the scientific community. Its success is built on a combination of deep local market presence and a technically skilled sales force, enabling the company to serve a dynamic and fragmented life sciences industry that continues to benefit from stable, long-term research investment.

Europa Biosite will also benefit from EQT’s extensive experience in specialized distribution – drawing insights from portfolio companies such as Azelis, Beijer Ref, and OEM International – as well as EQT’s broad industrial advisor network. Kate Swann, Senior Industrial Advisor to EQT, will take on the role of Chairperson of Europa Biosite’s Board.

“Europa Biosite supports European scientific research by connecting thousands of labs with the reagents they need to advance discovery. “I am excited to be taking on the role of Chairperson of Europa Biosite and to continue the partnership with EQT. The life sciences sector is vital and fast-moving, and Europa Biosite has a compelling opportunity to grow and contribute to its development. Building on my experience as Chairperson of Beijer Ref, another Swedish specialised distribution business, I look forward to supporting the company’s scaling journey,” said Kate Swann, Senior Industrial Advisor to EQT.
