Nissan Advances AI and SDV with AWS-Powered Platform

Nissan Motor launched the Nissan Scalable Open Software Platform. This next-gen, cloud-based development foundation is built on Amazon Web Services (AWS). Nissan’s platform speeds up creating and launching Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) technologies. This marks a big step in Nissan’s digital transformation.

This announcement follows Nissan’s 2023 momentum. Back then, the company teamed up with AWS. They aimed to modernize global engineering and boost software-driven mobility.

“Nissan is advancing a strategy to lead the transformation of the automotive industry by rapidly delivering innovative value to customers through Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) development,” said Kazuma Sugimoto, General Manager, Software Development Department at Nissan. “Aiming to realize next-generation mobility powered by AI, Nissan has announced the ‘Nissan Scalable Open Software Platform,’ the foundational technology for this vision. This platform is a critical key technology for creating future mobility and delivering new experiences to customers. By leveraging AWS‘s cutting-edge cloud technology and expertise, Nissan will significantly enhance the efficiency of its global development framework.”

As the automotive industry shifts toward software-defined architectures, Nissan’s new platform is engineered to support:

Faster feature development cycles, enabling teams to turn concepts into vehicle-ready capabilities at digital speed

Elevated quality assurance, driven by advanced simulation and testing technologies

Seamless global collaboration, empowering distributed engineering teams to work in a unified environment

The platform is already showing clear results. Nissan has cut vehicle software test time by 75%. This speeds up validation and automates many tasks that used to need a lot of manual work. Also, over 5,000 developers worldwide are linked through a single development ecosystem. This offers easy access to standard tools, shared assets, and cloud resources-no matter where they are.
