NEXTIA Unveils High-Output CEPS to Expand Electric Power Steering Capabilities Across Vehicle Segments

NEXTIA Automotive has introduced its latest innovation in advanced steering systems the High-Output Column-Assist Electric Power Steering (HO CEPS), further elevating its industry-leading steering technology portfolio. This strategic addition empowers OEMs with greater flexibility to meet the evolving demands of global vehicle markets, offering a scalable solution that optimizes performance, cost, and speed-to-market across diverse vehicle platforms.

Expanding Electric Steering to Heavier Vehicles

While Column-Assist EPS (CEPS) has historically been deployed in smaller vehicles such as compact cars, sedans, small SUVs, and entry-level EVs, NEXTIA’s existing CEPS technology already supports above-average steering loads, with assistance ranging from 40 to 95 Nm. The introduction of HO CEPS extends that range to 110 Nm, making it suitable for larger, heavier vehicles that previously relied on dual pinion or entry-level rack-assist EPS systems. This enhancement enables automakers to retain steering precision and energy efficiency without the added complexity or cost of more premium underhood alternatives.

Flexible, Modular Solutions for a Broad OEM Spectrum

With HO CEPS, NEXTIA now offers a full suite of high-output EPS solutions, including advanced single pinion, dual pinion, and rack-assist systems. Its expanded lineup features:

  • Modular EPS Suite – A scalable, cost-effective system architecture that promotes component and platform reuse across vehicle models.
  • Highly Available EPS – Built-in redundancy to support automation and safety through continuous operation.
  • Steer-by-Wire and Rear-Wheel Steering – Cutting-edge technology that redefines cockpit design and function across all vehicle types.
  • Combined EPS and By-Wire Portfolio – Integrates advanced software and multiple steering functions for enhanced adaptability, safety, and control.

NEXTIA’s robust steering solutions allow OEMs to tailor performance and development strategies to suit regional and segment-specific demands.

“With the introduction of our high-power CEPS, Nextia continues to lead the way in steering innovation, empowering OEMs to optimize performance, price and speed of development for every vehicle in every market. As the leader in chassis motion control, we are helping automakers anticipate and adapt to the future of mobility,” said Robin Milavec, president, CTO, CSO and executive director, Nextia Automotive.
