GlobalFoundries, announced the availability of Auto Grade 1 ready embedded magnetic RAM (eMRAM) technology on its ultra-low-power FDX platform. The innovation strengthens GF’s portfolio of embedded non-volatile memory (eNVM) technologies and expands the capabilities of its AutoPro platform, which is designed to support automotive-grade semiconductor solutions.
The new FDX+AutoPro150 eMRAM technology offers several performance advantages compared with conventional industry-grade memory solutions. It provides endurance of up to 500,000 cycles, sub-10-nanosecond read speeds, and strong scalability for larger memory densities. The technology has also been engineered to mitigate magnetic field effects and is qualified for dependable operation in extreme environments of up to 150°C, making it suitable for high-performance system-on-chip (SoC) designs used in critical automotive applications.
By integrating this capability directly onto GF’s enhanced FDX platform-manufactured in both Germany and the United States-chip designers can create compact, versatile and energy-efficient semiconductor architectures with improved security and reliability.

Enabling Software-Defined Vehicles and Emerging Physical AI Systems
eMRAM technology is already widely deployed by Tier-1 automotive suppliers for microcontroller units (MCUs) powering software-defined vehicles (SDVs) and advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). Its ability to support real-time data processing for safety-critical functions and enable over-the-air (OTA) software updates makes it a key enabler of modern automotive platforms while helping reduce downtime and improve user experience.
Looking ahead, the fast access speeds and low power consumption of eMRAM are expected to support the evolution of Physical AI systems, including autonomous vehicles and humanoid robotics, where embedded intelligence requires efficient, high-performance memory technologies.
“With the introduction of our Auto Grade 1 ready FDX+AutoPro150 eMRAM platform, GF is raising the bar for embedded memory performance in the most demanding automotive and industrial environments,” said Ed Kaste, senior vice president of GF’s ultra-low power CMOS business. “By combining fast, reliable MRAM with our energy-efficient FDX platform, we’re giving customers a powerful path to build the next-generation of SDVs and emerging Physical AI systems. This milestone underscores GF’s commitment to delivering innovative, automotive-ready solutions at scale and empowering our customers to design future-ready solutions with greater speed and confidence from a trusted manufacturing partner.”
Industry partners are also recognizing the role of MRAM technology in shaping the future of automotive semiconductor design.
“MRAM is a technology at the edge of automotive innovation, providing speed, endurance and reliability that will help next-generation MCUs for software-defined vehicles with real-time, distributed intelligence,” said Dominik Erb, vice president of digital semiconductor roadmaps & operations at Bosch. “We welcome that GlobalFoundries delivers embedded MRAM technology on their FDX platform and creates a new solution that helps scale with the growing demand across the automotive industry.”
