Vietnam Airlines has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with global tech leader FPT, marking a significant step toward advancing its comprehensive digital transformation agenda. This strategic collaboration is designed to enhance operational efficiency, drive innovation across aviation services, and deliver a more personalized customer experience through cutting-edge technologies.
As part of the agreement, both organizations will jointly develop and implement a wide range of digital solutions. These include Generative AI, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Blockchain, Internet of Things (IoT), and enterprise digital platforms—custom-built to optimize airline operations and redefine passenger engagement across every customer touchpoint.
This initiative coincides with Vietnam Airlines’ rollout of a next-generation e-commerce platform—an essential first phase in its digitalization roadmap. The new system aims to deliver a smarter, more personalized digital journey for passengers, expanding the airline’s service ecosystem and unlocking new ancillary revenue opportunities.
The collaboration will leverage AI-driven applications to transform customer engagement. Key innovations include content personalization, automated customer service via chatbots and voicebots, the establishment of a Customer Data Platform (CDP), and the deployment of robust CRM and ERP systems. The project also involves building flexible, scalable cloud infrastructure and data centers aligned with the airline’s evolving business needs.
Vietnam Airlines and FPT will jointly invest in these initiatives, share intellectual property rights, and generate revenue from the commercialization of aviation-focused digital solutions, with plans to expand their reach to regional and global markets.
Additionally, the partnership will elevate the passenger experience by integrating Vietnam Airlines’ loyalty program with FPT’s broader ecosystem. This integration enables customers to redeem frequent flyer miles for services and products within FPT’s education and retail networks—further enriching customer value.

Mr. Dang Ngoc Hoa, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vietnam Airlines, said:
“Digital transformation is the key driver enabling Vietnam Airlines to strengthen its competitiveness and ascend to a leadership position in the region. Our strategic partnership with FPT, one of Vietnam’s most trusted and pioneering technology partners, will accelerate our comprehensive digitization, particularly in developing a modern, intelligent, and customer-centric e-commerce ecosystem. This partnership represents a decisive step toward achieving our vision of becoming the premier digital airline in the Asia-Pacific by 2030. It will also play a pivotal role in advancing Vietnam’s goals of Resolution No. 57, which positions science, technology, and innovation as the cornerstone of national development in the new era.”
Dr. Truong Gia Binh, FPT Founder and Chairman, said: “Vietnam is pursuing ambitious goals in this transformative era of national progress. The government has taken bold, decisive actions to drive the country’s and businesses’ growth. With this partnership and the successes we have already achieved together, FPT and Vietnam Airlines will further accelerate innovation and technology adoption, in alignment with the objectives of the government’s Resolution No. 57. Leveraging extensive working experience with global aviation leaders, we are set to harness cutting-edge technologies, particularly AI, to comprehensively empower Vietnam Airlines’ digital transformation to become a leading digital airline in the region and globally.”
Echoing this vision, Mr. Vu Anh Tu, FPT Chief Technology Officer, identified five key strategic priorities to position Vietnam Airlines at the forefront of digital aviation in Asia. These include the creation of an AI Innovation Lab, development of a customer-centric technology platform, modernization of cloud infrastructure, deployment of AI-powered agents, and upskilling airline staff through AI-focused training programs.
The two organizations share a long-standing relationship rooted in digital advancement. Since the 1990s, FPT has supported Vietnam Airlines through various stages of technological evolution. Their first official Strategic Partnership Agreement was signed in 2013. Over the past three decades, FPT has contributed to the airline’s IT infrastructure, telecommunications systems, and digital transformation initiatives. Most recently, FPT played a key role in organizing Vietnam Airlines’ internal Digital Transformation Days and the successful hosting of the 2023 IATA World Safety and Operations Conference—the first of its kind in Vietnam.
This renewed collaboration underscores Vietnam Airlines‘ ongoing commitment to innovation-driven, sustainable growth. It also reinforces the airline’s role in supporting Vietnam’s broader digital economy strategy, as outlined in Resolution No. 57, which places science, technology, and innovation at the core of national development.
With a proven track record in global aviation technology, FPT serves over 100 clients worldwide—including airlines, airports, cargo operators, and aircraft manufacturers. The company is a strategic partner of Airbus via the Skywise platform and recently collaborated with the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) to explore next-generation aviation technologies.
