Vertical Aerospace Partners with Syensqo to Advance Industrialisation of the VX4 Electric Aircraft

Vertical Aerospace, a leader in electric aviation, announced a long-term supplier deal with Syensqo. Syensqo is a global expert in advanced materials. This partnership will boost Vertical’s plan to industrialize its VX4 aircraft. The VX4 aims for certification in 2028 before starting commercial operations.

Syensqo’s high-performance composite and adhesive materials, already proven within Vertical’s prototype programme, have now been formally selected for use across the VX4 structure. These will be key enablers of the lightweight strength, durability, and structural efficiency necessary to underpin demanding, high-frequency operations of electric vertical flight. The securing of these advanced composites is essential in making sure the VX4 can withstand repeated take-offs and landings at scale while maintaining the highest standards of safety and performance.

Aciturri, a global aerostructures leader, will manufacture the airframe for the VX4. This agreement represents another key milestone as Vertical moves from the development phase into full commercial production.

Syensqo brings decades of aerospace expertise, supplying composite technologies to many of the world’s leading aircraft and defense manufacturers. That background places Syensqo as a strategic partner as Vertical advances its platform for both civil and defense applications.

“We’re bringing the VX4 to market with leading global partners, and deepening our successful partnership with Syensqo as our advanced-materials supplier is an important step on that journey. Their decades of expertise in lightweight, high-performance composites – combined with our shared commitment to safety and certification – will help us bring to market a robust, agile aircraft as we progress toward commercial operations,” said Stuart Simpson, CEO, Vertical Aerospace.

“We are proud to further strengthen our partnership with Vertical. Our innovative composite and adhesive solutions aim at further enabling light weighting and performance, contributing to the VX4’s path towards safer, cleaner and more efficient air mobility. We are delighted to provide our scientific know-how and long-standing customer collaboration as Vertical enters into certification and industrialization to ensure a successful ramp-up of the VX4 into series production,” says Rodrigo Elizondo, President Syensqo Composite Materials.

This expanded partnership follows Vertical’s continued progress in formalizing its core supply chain for the certification aircraft, working alongside global leaders such as Honeywell, Aciturri, and other strategic partners.
