Aratas unveils 200V reed relays for safety and stability in signalling and isolation

Aratas Europe (formerly OMRON Electronic Components Europe) has introduced general-purpose reed relays with 200V DC switching capability, ensuring a safe voltage margin for demanding applications in test and measurement equipment and safety-monitoring circuitry.

These devices, the G6TA series, add a new category to the Aratas portfolio bringing the typical advantages of reed relays, including high isolation, fast response, and extended lifetime. Ideal for signal routing and switching, instrumentation, and small minimally inductive loads, the reed relays complement the existing families of electromagnetic signal relays and MOSFET relays to present a wide range of solutions for diverse challenges.

With their tolerance for high applied voltages, the G6TA relays enhance efficiency and space savings in oscilloscopes and network analysers, solar inverters, EV chargers, energy storage systems (ESS), battery systems, and wide-bandgap power semiconductor testers. With a footprint of just 15.3mm x 3.8mm, and as much as 45% lower overall volume than comparable alternative devices, the relays let designers implement dense multichannel signal-switching arrays on test-interface boards.

The series comprises type-1a (SPST) and type-2a (DPST) configurations, with the contact section enclosed in a hermetically sealed glass tube to protect the contacts and ensure long-term signal integrity. Characterised by fast on/off response, with operate/release times of 0.4ms/0.2ms in the type-1a variants, the relays ensure quiet operation, low leakage, and predictable contact resistance of only 125mΩ in the G6TA-1A and 140mΩ in the G6TA-2A.

With rated lifetime of 500 million operations (at 10mA/1V DC), Aratas’s new G6TA series relays have 0.5A switching current rating capable of handling low-level loads in the region of a few milliamps. In addition, the dielectric-strength rating of 1500V DC between contacts ensures safe isolation of leakage current measurement circuitry when used in ground-fault detection.
