Vantor has partnered with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) and leading industrial organizations to establish the UK Defence Intelligence Innovation Cluster. The collaboration environment has been designed to speed up the development, evaluation, and deployment of future generation capabilities in defence as well as strengthen the sovereign defence industry base of the United Kingdom.
The cluster has been created through Project FAIRFAX in which the UK Ministry of Defence, Huntingdonshire District Council, Vantor, CGI UK, and MAIAR have worked collectively in order to create a permanent hub at RAF Wyton. This facility would be used for tackling the operational security problems directly and evaluating the latest technology stacks as well as making use of hardware and software in the defence operations.
Integrating Commercial Spatial Intelligence into Defense Workflows
As a founding industrial member, Vantor is contributing its commercial spatial intelligence architecture to the cluster. The company’s technology stack encompasses mission-critical software, AI-driven spatial analytics, and high-resolution 2D and 3D geospatial data models, alongside specialized expertise in embedding these solutions into defense and intelligence workflows.

Under the operational umbrella of Project FAIRFAX, the UK Defence Intelligence Innovation Cluster brings together key founding partners-including the UK Ministry of Defence, Huntingdonshire District Council, Vantor, CGI UK, and MAIAR-to establish a unified defense innovation initiative. Stationed at a permanent facility at RAF Wyton, the cluster is co-located alongside the National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence to serve as a central operational hub for rapid technology development and field testing. By connecting front-line defense personnel directly with commercial developers and academic researchers, the hub focuses on advancing critical technological domains, including unified spatial intelligence, artificial intelligence analytics, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) frameworks, mission engineering platforms, and space-enabled technologies. This collaborative architecture bridges the gap between emerging commercial technologies and active military requirements, accelerating the deployment of sovereign defense capabilities across the United Kingdom.
Co-located alongside the Ministry of Defence’s National Centre for Geospatial Intelligence (NCGI) at RAF Wyton, Project FAIRFAX will host rapid operational sprints, technology demonstrations, engineering workshops, and mission-focused experimentation challenges. By establishing a direct link between front-line operators, software developers, and research teams, the cluster aims to refine emerging technologies against active defense requirements, significantly reducing the timeline from initial concept to fielded operational capability.

Expanding the National Defense Innovation Ecosystem
The Defense Intelligence Innovation Cluster has been designed in such a way that the network can grow further than its initial membership. With time, the network is going to include new players from the defense industry, experts from various domains, research institutions, and startups in the field of geospatial intelligence, artificial intelligence, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR), mission engineering, and space technologies.
