Trident Solutions and SciTec Partner to Advance Edge Processing Hardware and AI Software for Space Defense Missions

Trident Solutions and SciTec, a Firefly Aerospace business, have formed a strategic alliance to merge SciTec’s data fusion software with Trident’s edge mission data processing hardware. The joint solution provides System Prime Contractors and U.S. Government agencies with a flight-ready processing architecture engineered for time-critical national security space missions.

The collaboration integrates Trident’s space-qualified, high-performance edge processors with SciTec’s AI-enabled mission software inside a purpose-built Edge Mission Data Processing testbed. The implementation of multi-sensor data fusion and analytics on-board the satellite ensures that the threat is detected in real time in contested or bandwidth-limited scenarios-by minimizing integration cycles to help deploy defense programs faster.

Bandwidth Problem Mitigation at the Edge of the Battlefield

In the current systems for space domain awareness and missile defense, there are major downlink bottlenecks in transmitting massive amounts of raw data from satellites to the ground stations. By processing intelligence at the edge of the battlefield, satellites can instantly detect a threat without constant communication with the ground stations.

The partnership combines low Size, Weight, and Power (SWaP) edge hardware with operationally tested algorithm suites, offering defense customers an integrated payload capability tailored for missile warning, space domain tracking, and high-speed decision-support systems.

“The future of space and missile defense depends entirely on pushing massive processing power directly to the tactical edge to overcome bandwidth limitations and latency,” said Ricardo Gonzalez, CEO of Trident Solutions. “Trident’s flight-proven, SWaP-optimized hardware is purpose-built to execute complex data fusion in the most demanding environments. By natively integrating SciTec‘s exceptional mission software onto our resilient processing platforms, we are eliminating traditional data bottlenecks and significantly reducing integration risk. We aren’t just conceptualizing the future of space domain awareness; together, we are fielding the precise hardware-software integration required to drastically shorten deployment timelines and help our customers field advanced operational capabilities faster.”

“SciTec is excited to pair our operationally proven mission software with Trident’s flight hardware to accelerate the delivery of next‑generation sensing and decision‑support capabilities,” said Jim Bower, Executive Director, SciTec. “The threats are evolving quickly, and this partnership ensures the response evolves even faster.”

Accelerating Deployment Timelines for Defense Payloads

The alliance responds to growing demand across the national security sector for resilient hardware-software systems capable of countering rapidly evolving orbital threats. By pre-integrating SciTec’s software stack onto Trident‘s space-qualified flight hardware, the combined initiative reduces design friction and lowers development risk for defense prime contractors and U.S. national security agencies.
